3 Ways to Stand Out as a New Seller on Fiverr (even with no experience)
Show Notes Transcript

Wondering how you can stand out as a new freelancer with no experience? Lucky for you, Fiverr is a great platform for beginners. And there are tons of ways you can set up your packages & pricing to draw in buyers.

You may not have ten years of experience and hundreds of client testimonials to show as social proof. But you do have 3 main selling points to attract clients:

1) Price - Your prices are your main selling point as a new freelancer. But there are ways to manipulate your Fiverr packages and add-ons so you can still maximize your income.

2) Delivery Times - Having faster turnaround times than other sellers will instantly make your gig more valuable to clients.

3) Revisions - Offering revisions is like offering a good return policy - it gives the buyer peace of mind that if they're not satisfied with the initial delivery, they'll be able to change it.

I expand on each of these in today's episode, including how you can use them to your advantage to get more views, clicks, and orders on Fiverr!

[00:00:49]
Lindsay: Hi my loves. Welcome back to this little mini Fiverr bonus series. Today I wanna share some tips for those of you who are brand new freelancers or brand new sellers on Fiverr. And you're worried that no one's gonna wanna buy from you because there's thousands of other sellers who are offering the same service and they're way more experienced or way more qualified than you.

[00:01:21]
Lindsay: So why would anybody choose you? And I had the same thoughts by the way when I started. And I'm really glad I didn't listen to them because I wouldn't be where I am now, making money on Fiverr every single week, right? The beauty of freelancing and the beauty of Fiverr is that you don't need to have experience.

[00:01:38]
Lindsay: You don't need to have credentials. No one is looking for you to have a degree, right? That's not what they're looking for when someone is searching Fiverr and deciding who they wanna buy from. So what I'm gonna share with you is some of the things that they are looking for, and in particular, how you can stand out as a new seller and make your gigs really, really enticing for buyers.

[00:01:59]
Lindsay:Because the thing is having experience, having credentials, having projects in your portfolio, having reviews and testimonials from other clients, are all really great selling points, but they're not the only selling points, and they're not the only thing that buyers are looking for on Fiverr. By the way, I'm gonna be diving so much deeper into everything you need to know to get started on Fiverr in my upcoming masterclass, which I will tell you all about at the end of this episode.

[00:02:27]
Lindsay: So make sure you listen all the way through. But for now, I wanna share a few tips with you. So, as a brand new seller, you have three main selling points. The first one is your price, right? The main reason why your gigs are gonna stand out is because you're gonna be able to offer services for much cheaper

[00:02:44]
Lindsay: then the people who have 10 years of experience and a degree and 105 star reviews on their profile, right? And yes, this is maybe one of the downsides of Fiverr is that you, you can't charge a whole lot at first, but you're gonna be able to work your way up so quickly, I promise you. It does not take that long to reach level one seller, and you can instantly start raising your prices from there, right?

[00:03:08]
Lindsay: And it's not only once you hit a new seller level that you can raise your prices. Like as you gather more orders, more reviews, more samples to put in your portfolio, you can start raising your prices incrementally as you go. I'd say I've raised my prices on Fiverr like every couple months, or if I'm getting a lot of orders, like I just raised my prices a couple weeks ago and I'm about to raise 'em again.

[00:03:31]
Lindsay: So, and I've done that a few times throughout my 18 months on Fiverr. But at first, your prices are gonna be your main selling point. So here's how you can make your gig stand out by kind of manipulating your prices without having to necessarily charge super, super cheap. On Fiverr when somebody searches for a service on the results page, under each gig, it says, starting at blank, and it tells you what that seller's lowest package price is for that gig.

[00:04:04]
Lindsay: So when you create a gig on Fiverr, you have the option to create up to three different packages within that gig, which I recommend doing. And so in the search results, it will kind of advertise your lowest package price. And so if you're able to say that your gig starts at like $10, $15, that is going to entice people to click on your gig because they're like, I can get this done for $10, like I'm in, right.

[00:04:31]
Lindsay: That doesn't mean you're actually going to do a whole LinkedIn profile for $10 or design a whole website for somebody for $10, or, you know, complete an entire project for $10. But if you can pull one piece of your work out and turn it into its own package, something that's really easy for you to do, really simple that you could charge, like I said, 10 to $15 for.

[00:04:55]
Lindsay: That can be a really good way to drive more traffic to your gig. And then once people get there, they're gonna realize well, I don't really want the $10 package, but this, you know, 30, 40, $50 package includes what I need and I'm willing to pay that. So, for example, to use myself, when I first started on Fiverr, my most basic package was just a profile review.

[00:05:17]
Lindsay: It was like, I'm not gonna go in and write any part of your LinkedIn profile or design your banner photo or anything like that, but I will review your profile and tell you what sections you can update and how to make them better. And then you can kind of DIY it on your own. So if someone, you know, looking for really, really cheap work, and they just need some pointers on how to optimize their profile, then that could be a good package for them.

[00:05:42]
Lindsay: But if they want someone to actually write their about section or write their headline, create a banner photo for them, then they would need one of my higher packages right. Another way that you can get your gig package prices low is by including some really good add-ons, so it will advertise your gig price as whatever is in your package.

[00:06:04]
Lindsay: But if you have add-ons that are something that's really enticing, really popular, something that someone is usually gonna want, if they order this service from you, then they're likely to purchase that add-on pretty much every time, and that is going to bring your order prices up. So, for example, for me, I don't go in and log into your profile and actually make the updates for you.

[00:06:29]
Lindsay: That's not included in my packages, but I do offer it as an add-on, and I'd say at least half, if not the majority of buyers choose that add-on when they order from me, because they're like, well, yeah, like I don't wanna have to go in and make these updates myself. Like it's an easy add-on, so you can really manipulate your packages and your add-ons in the way you structure that to have really enticing prices on your gigs

[00:06:56]
Lindsay: without necessarily having to like super undercharge for your [00:07:00] services. So that's your first main selling point as a new seller. Your second one is your delivery times. If you can deliver something in three days, that is more valuable to a buyer than delivering it in seven days right. And so even if your packages are priced the same as another seller, if you're delivering it in less time, that's more enticing to a buyer.

[00:07:20]
Lindsay: And I can tell you right now, I have had to extend all of my delivery times because I have so many orders, right? Like I can't keep up with them. I just don't have the capacity to turn around a LinkedIn profile in a week like I used to. And so I had to extend my delivery time to literally 30 days. So I have had a lot of people message me who are interested in working with me, but then they chose not to because my delivery times are so long.

[00:07:44]
Lindsay: So they went to someone else who had shorter delivery times cuz they want the work done sooner. Now, obviously don't put delivery times that you can't commit to, but if you are able to deliver something in a day or a couple of days, that's gonna be really enticing to buyers. And again, think about what's involved in your actual package.

[00:08:05]
Lindsay: Like if you have a basic package that's super simple, that's something that takes you like an hour or less to do, then maybe you can have a 24 hour turnaround time right? So again, these are all things that you can play around with as a new seller to make your gig stand out and make them more appealing to buyers.

[00:08:22]
Lindsay: Because the other thing is buyers can literally filter for these elements when they are searching for a seller. So you can search by delivery time, you can search by price. I'm not sure if you can search by the next one, but we'll get to that. So you can search by delivery time. You can search by price, right? And filter for certain price ranges or delivery times that you're looking for.

[00:08:45]
Lindsay: So of course, if someone is filtering out any gigs with a delivery time that's like above seven days, but your delivery times are three days or five days, then they're gonna find your gig easier right? And again, if we're gonna talk about add-ons, your add-ons have their own additional delivery time. So if somebody orders an add-on and it's gonna take you longer to deliver that add-on, then you can set it so that it automatically adds a day, two days, three days, seven days, however many days you need to deliver that order.

[00:09:17]
Lindsay: But again, when they are initially searching for your gig, it will show your shorter delivery times in your packages. There are just so many options for you to play around with on Fiverr and get your gig to get more views. Okay. The third one, the third selling point you have as a new seller is your revisions.

[00:09:36]
Lindsay: So on Fiverr you can set a certain number of revisions that are included in each of your packages. So think of this like when you're buying something online and you're looking at what is the return policy, because the risk that you're taking when you order something online from either a site you've never bought from before, or it's a product you've never bought before, you're taking a risk that you're not gonna like it.

[00:10:02]
Lindsay: It's not gonna work. It's not gonna be up to your standard. It's not gonna fit you if you're ordering clothes, right? And so when you see that somebody has a free 30 day return policy, that gives you peace of mind to go ahead and make that purchase. Because even if it's not what you expected or you don't end up liking it, you know that you can return it.

[00:10:22]
Lindsay: So your revisions on Fiverr give buyers peace of mind when they're ordering from a seller that doesn't have a ton of reviews on their profile, doesn't have a ton of samples in their portfolio, and it's hard, you know, they're taking a risk that your work might not be the highest quality work or it might not meet their expectations.

[00:10:45]
Lindsay: So offering revisions can be a way to bring them that peace of mind and kind of that safety policy of, okay, if you don't like what I deliver at first, you can tell me what you want me to change and I will change it for you. And you can offer as many revisions as you want to. It's also an option to offer unlimited revisions, which can be good because like it's not likely someone's gonna actually ask you for that many revisions.

[00:11:09]
Lindsay: Like usually after one or two you're gonna deliver something that they are satisfied with, right? But having unlimited revisions on your gig will give them peace of mind that when they order from you, they are going to end up getting an end product that they are happy with. So again, these are all things that you can do as a new seller to help your gig stand out before you have a ton of orders in your queue, before you have a ton of five star reviews on your profile, before you have a ton of work samples in your portfolio.

[00:11:40]
Lindsay: Even if you are brand, brand new, it is possible to get seen on Fiverr and get orders on Fiverr. There are so many different things that you can do to make your gig stand out, and these are just a few of them, right? What you put in your gig title, your gig description, your gig images, what you put on your profile are all things that are going to help

[00:12:02]
Lindsay: build trust with prospective buyers. And Fiverr actually recently added a few features that are even gonna help you do that even more like now, you can put an actual portfolio on your profile, like you used to only be able to put some samples in each of your gigs, but now you can have an actual portfolio on your profile.

[00:12:20]
Lindsay: So even if you haven't worked with any paying clients yet, but let's say you're a copywriter and you've written blog posts for yourself, or social media posts for your own social media or your friends or whatever, you can put that into your portfolio, right? And people will see it when they go to your profile.

[00:12:39]
Lindsay: So if you are a new freelancer or if you're thinking about freelancing, thinking about getting started on Fiverr, please, please, please do not be hesitant because you don't have experience and you feel like you're not qualified. I promise you no one on Fiverr is looking at your profile to see if you have a degree in writing in order to hire you as a copywriter.

[00:12:58]
Lindsay: That's not what they care about. So if you're ready to set up your profile, set up your gigs and start making money on Fiverr, my masterclass is going to be diving so, so deep into have to nail down your services and exactly what to include in your gigs, what to put on your profile that's gonna help you standout.

[00:13:16]
Lindsay: Again, even if you have zero experience, how to optimize your gigs, your gig images, titles, descriptions, how to structure them, what keywords to put in them to help you ranking the algorithm, get seen and draw in your ideal clients, how to structure your packages and your pricing to draw people in and really maximize your income.

[00:13:35]
Lindsay: And we're gonna help you get your first few sales, cuz from there the momentum builds and it just gets easier and easier. When I tell you this masterclass is everything I have to give to help you succeed on Fiverr. I am giving you every piece of knowledge I can possibly give you to help you succeed. You're getting all of my best practices, my dos and don'ts, my tips and tricks.

[00:13:57]
Lindsay: I'm giving you my message templates that I use to get more orders, upsell people and my dms, and just have a really good communication with my buyers so that they're satisfied and want to leave me a five star review and a tip. You know what I mean? Plus for the first 10 people who sign up, I am going to personally audit your Fiverr profile and tell you exactly what you need to change in order to optimize it, rank in the algorithm, get seen, and get more sales.

[00:14:24]
Lindsay: I can't tell you if any of those 10 spots will be available by the time you hear this. As of the time I'm recording it, there are already four people who have signed up, so if you are interested, I would not wait. Go to lindsayhanson.com/Fiverr for all the details. The masterclass is gonna be held live on Wednesday, January 4th at 2:00 PM Eastern.

[00:14:46]
Lindsay: If you can't make it at that time, you will get access to the replay and access to the resources, which by the way, you get lifetime access to everything. So it's a really great value. If you are serious about getting started on Fiverr and you follow the process and the steps that I walk you through in this masterclass, I can't imagine that it won't get you orders.

[00:15:08]
Lindsay: I mean, for legal purposes, I can't make any guarantees. But I would be surprised if you follow everything that I lay out in this masterclass and you are not making money by at least the end of January. So again, lindsayhanson.com/fiverr. The link is in the show notes for you. If you have any questions at all, you can DM me on Instagram @lindsaymhanson or send an email to info@lindsayhanson.com.
